Okeechobee Report

The water is rising here on Okeechobee with it at 13.78 feet above sea level here this morning. With that the water is cooling a little and the bass seem to be getting more active from day to day. There has been a lot of bait in big pods out in the main lake and the bass are starting to be caught in a lot more areas including back in the grass. September is going to end up being a pretty good month for fishing here on the lake, it can sometimes be a hit or miss month with water level and heat being the main factors.
My clients have been catching around thirty bass on a four hour morning trip on both artificial lures or wild shiners. Not catching a lot of big bass but numbers are the name of the game until about next month when the fishing will really start turning for the good. For artificial lures the Gambler Ace in junebug color has been my go to lure but we have caught some bass on swim jigs and pitching a craw into isolated reed heads.
Be sure and get those trips booked for the fall, winter, and spring season here on Okeechobee as open dates are filling up fast. Good luck, tight lines, and I hope to see everyone on the water soon. 863-677-0983
